I’ll just say it. There is a reason the Xbox One controller was referred to as the greatest controller in the world. It is simply comfortable, versatile, and responsive. One of the best benefits of the Xbox One controller over the competitors is the cross functionality between the console and PC games. Buy one controller and use it for your games on both platforms.
Unfortunately, PC gamers didn’t have an option for using the Xbox One controller untethered. It is one thing to sit at a desk with a controller connected by a cable but those with gaming PCS tied to the living room television were left with an awkward setup.
That will change next week with the release of the official wireless adapter for Xbox One controllers. This device will work with the standard Xbox One controller and the upcoming Elite controller as well as any future controllers released by Microsoft. The device comes with a USB extension cable so if your PC is tucked away beneath your desk your controller can still have a clear line of sight with the adapter. Microsoft mentioned that a driver update may need to be downloaded before the device will function correctly. The wireless adapter has an MSRP of $25 USD and is already available for pre-order at some retailers. A bundle with the Xbox One controller and wireless adapter for $80 USD was announced earlier this year but has not been made available for pre-order yet.
