Wolfenstein: Youngblood Gets A Taste Of Dishonored

If anyone is familiar with Arkane Studios work such as Prey and Dishonored, you have a great idea as to how this can play out for a Wolfenstein game. Recently, in an interview with Official Playstation Magazine, Executive Producer Jerk Gustafsson talked about the impact of developing beside Arkane Studios and how it has shaped Wolfenstein: Youngblood. This has allowed for a more open-ended level structure. So even though the main story is “a little bit lighter”, there will be more extras involved to fill that gap. More opportunities to explore the world and interact with the colorful characters.

“The campaign is a bit shorter but the amount of gameplay time is greater.”

Wolfenstein: Youngblood seem to be the first of the series to try this new level design aspect, of course potentially seeing it worked into future titles if successful. For those unfamiliar to games made by Arkane Studios I’ll give a short rundown. The levels allow for a very large variety of ways to engage combat, scout paths, acquire side quests, with multiple tiers of buildings available and heights. It is probably the least linear you can get while making a linear game. Thanks to PC Gamer for the info (Source). Wolfenstein: Youngblood is set to launch on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch July 26, 2019.
