Everybody has their favorite series and mine happens to be Naruto. However, One Piece has recently begun to take over my life. For a long time I haven’t been up-to-date with the anime or the latest manga chapters. All of that has changed; I have caught up with both the anime and the manga and now One Piece is growing on me even more.
Don’t get me wrong – I always liked One Piece and the compelling story Eiichiro Oda tells about the Straw Hats. I Just never liked it as much as my friends and peers did.
Fortunately, things are starting to take a turn with the latest manga chapter and the current anime episodes. One Piece is such a remarkable and special series that I feel I haven’t fully given it the respect that it deserves.
Some of you may recall when I wrote my top 10 shounen anime article, I had One Piece ranked at #5. With the story progressing as it is I must say I never thought I would like this series as much as I do now compared to back then. Which of course, you might say it is common sense given the time Oda has had to perfect the story and drive out plot points and character development.
The Dressrosa arc and The Whole Cake Island arc is some of the best I’ve read and seen in a series in a while. Whether its the fights or the backstory with the main cast of characters or all of the events that are taking place in the new world. I’m officially on a high that I can’t seem to come down on.
Now before I wrap this up, I would just like to say Naruto will always be my all time favorite series. Naruto is just a series that resonates with me on a personal level, but One Piece is definitely moving close to it with every chapter and every episode. If I had to give it a rank on my all time favorite series, right now it will definitely be at number three or possibly even number two.
Now for those who may be interested in the series, it is currently on episode 833 and the manga is currently on chapter 903. Yes, I know this is extremely long and its very intimidating to those who may have never seen the series before and I know that it may not be for everyone, however I highly recommend that you check it out if you have the time.
