This year you’re going to hear my growling, mumbling, and hulk-like voice in my own podcast. Weekend Warrior is a project I started a few years ago – a writing exercise that will become something more. Since our staff has shrunk I figured it would be the best time to bring back this series. In this article, I talk about the games that I really want to play in 2020. This doesn’t mean every game has to come out this year; some games have been out for a while and I just don’t have the time to play them when they get released.
Since this is January, I’m prepared to do this article in more than one part. Plenty of games will get announced throughout the year.
The first game is one of those that I’ve been waiting years for ever since the announcement of the Nintendo Switch. Animal Crossing: New Horizon will be coming out on March 20th, 2020 for those that don’t already know. I’ve been playing this series since it was released on the Gamecube years ago. I along with many others use video games to cope with the stress of everyday events. This game came to me during a time when my depression was in full swing, it really helped me calm down.
Now at a more relaxed place in my life, I look forward to the chance to truly enjoy this game for what it is. The next game is also something that has been in my life for a long time. I still remember the first packs of cards that were handed to me to open, Magic The Gathering is an amazing game.
It seems that Arc is developing a game based on Magic the Gathering. Magic: Legends will allow players to play as a Planeswalker of their choosing. The studio behind my favorite MMORPG Neverwinter is hard at work on this game. Since the release of the gameplay footage, it has been a very questionable-looking experience. I’m just going to go for it though. The card game has been apart of my life for so long that I can’t give it up now.
The third and final game in this article is actually something that has been out for some time. Sea of Thieves is a great game that I really want to spend more time with. Rare has given players some great experiences that I want to be apart of. I actually prefer to play this game on my own. I tried playing with my twelve-year-old, she would abandon the ship as I was finding so much treasure, I really mean so much treasure. Needless to say that at this point I will not be playing with her for a while. What upcoming games are you looking forward to playing in 2020? What past releases still need your attention?
