A brand new trailer for the highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake was shown today during Sony’s State of Play event. You can watch the English version of the trailer below:
Unfortunately, while gorgeous, there is not much in the way of new details that can be gleaned from watching the trailer. We see Avalanche’s raid on Shinra and even a glimpse of Cloud’s first encounter with Aerith (or Aeris, depending on your exposure to Final Fantasy VII’s universe.) There is even a tantalizing peek at Sephiroth though it seems that the rascals over at Square Enix are waiting before showing the villain in all of his high resolution glory.
Producer Yoshinori Kitase posted on the PlayStation Blog and promised more information about the game will come next month. “We are preparing to release more official information in June, but we wanted to try
something new here on State of Play by showing you this special trailer as a taste of what’s to come,” he wrote. “And oh my god! Did you notice he was there too…?”
As of this writing the Final Fantasy VII Remake has only been announced for the PlayStation 4 and may see an episodic release. Let’s hope for a release date announcement at E3 next month. Until then, what do you think of the trailer? We would love to know your thoughts.
