It’s been a very long time since anyone has sight or sound of a Command & Conquer game. Electronic Arts announced a few months ago that, “We were bringing the franchise back to the PC, starting with a remaster initiative.” This is great news to long time fans of the classic RTS game. Knowing that they are “starting with” this path of bringing back Command & Conquer, I think it may be safe to assume we could see a true, brand new Command & Conquer game. Remasters have always done well, especially when it hits home with the nostalgia.

“Today, I’m thrilled to tell you we are going back to the beginning. We have decided to remaster Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn. And while this is incredibly exciting on its own, we’re also aware of how passionate the community is about the Red Alert universe. So, we will also remaster the original Command & Conquer: Red Alertâ„¢. But what about the classic expansion packs you may ask – Covert Ops, Counterstrike, and Aftermath? Well, C&C and Red Alert wouldn’t be the same without them, so all three expansion packs will be bundled with the base games into one remastered collection – without microtransactions.” – Jim Vessella
Well there you have it, two classic titles coming back to PC with all of the original DLC and of course, thankfully, no microtransactions. Jim Vessella, Creative Director at Electronic Arts, goes on to say they are working closely with the original studio Petroglyph Games. They are focusing on making sure they bring that classic Command & Conquer RTS feel, and also bringing the title in 4K. Fans are getting the V.I.P treatment with this initiative, where they are being informed before production even begins. This allows the fans to have the most say in what they would like to see from EA and Petroglyph Games. I think it’s safe to say though, that the game is in good hands.
