Top 10 Romance Anime.

If you’re a hopeless romantic or one who just loves the trials and tribulations of couples trying to make their relationship work, well no worries. Here are the top 10 best romance anime that you should watch.

First lets start off with the honorable mentions. Clannad and Say I love You. Both are amazing series but were just edged out in my opinion from the top 10 list. Please check out both of these great series. Now on to the Top 10.

10.The Pet Girl of Sakurasou

The Pet Girl of Sakurasou comes in a number 10, it is a great show with amazing characters that will keep laughing until the very end. I definitely will recommend this show for those who are just getting into anime, that is also looking for a nice relaxing show.

“Sorata Kanda, a high school sophomore living in Sakurasou, the den of their academy’s problem children, spends his days being dragged around by the strange residents, swearing he’s going to escape Sakurasou one day.”

Where to watch: Crunchyroll

9. Masamune kuns revenge

Masumune kuns Revenge comes in at number 9. When this show first premiered on Crunchyroll I read the synopsis and was immediately hooked into seeing what this show could offer; and I must admit I was not disappointed one bit. I would have loved to placed it higher up, but because the show isn’t finished and currently has only one season available, so it will have to be placed here.

“”I’ve returned to this town for revenge!” Eight years ago, Makabe Masamune, a weak and chubby boy, was harshly rejected by the beautiful Adagaki Aki. Now, he’s lost a ton of weight, changed his name, and returned as a handsome teenage boy… all to make the “Brutal Princess” Aki fall in love with him so that he can reject her just as harshly as she did him.”

Where to watch: Crunchyroll

8.  Nisekoi

At number 8 is Nisekoi(False Love). Nisekoi is a joy to watch, just trying to figure out the mystery of who Raku made the promise to 10 years ago will keep you on the edge of your seat. Of course if you’re an anime fan you will have your shipping mate (Pairing) in mind half way through the first season.

“Raku Ichijo is an average high school student. He also happens to be the sole heir to the head of a Yakuza Family called the Shuei-gumi. 10 years ago, Raku made a promise… a secret promise with a girl he met. They promised one another that they will “get married when they reunite.” Since then, Raku never let go of the pendant the girl gave him.”

7. School Days

School Days comes in at number 7, Though to some this may be a very controversial show, I’ve found it to be quite enjoyable. A shy boy trying to find a way to a way to talk to his school crush, but because of some unfortunate events things will take a left turn when you will least expect it leaving your jaw to the floor.

“Will Makoto win his love by taking a picture of Kotonoha without anyone knowing?”

6. Blue Spring Ride

Blue Spring Ride rolls in at number 6. The story is of a girl’s first love leaving and coming back abruptly into her life, with a delightful tale of true love and fate. Though the series does take some dark turns as she tries to find out why her first love has gone through so many changes since he has been away.

“Futaba suddenly has a chance encounter with her first love, Tanaka Kou. Three years ago, he transferred schools before she was able to say how she felt about him. After meeting each other again, Futaba realizes that he has gone through many changes.”

Where to watch: Crunchyroll and Hulu

5.  Orange

At number 5 comes Orange. A story of a girl who writes a note to her younger self about “whatever you do, make sure you don’t have any regrets”. The story starts off light but gets very serious the more you watch, exposing some secrets between the main cast of characters.

“During the spring of her second year of high school, Naho receives a letter. Its sender is herself from ten years in the future. Naho thinks it’s a prank at first, but when the things written in the letter start to come true one by one, she realizes that the letter is telling her events that will happen in her future.”

Where to watch: Crunchyroll.

4. Plastic Memories

Coming in a number 4 is Plastic memories. I feel as if this show is extremely underrated; the relationship between human and android was told quite elegantly, demonstrating how these two people being so different doesn’t make them any different from the rest of us. A worthy candidate for the number 4 spot.

“After failing his college entrance exams, 18 year-old Tsukasa Mizugaki is offered a position at the renowned SAI Corporation due to his father’s connections. SAI Corporation is known for its production and management of androids that possessed human emotions called Giftia. Tsukasa’s position is in the terminal service department where the main job is to recover Giftias that are close to their expiration, a graveyard department in every sense. To make matters worse, Tsukasa is ordered to work with Isla, a female Giftia who is never given any responsibility other than serving tea to co-workers.”

Where to watch: Crunchyroll and Hulu

3. Toradora

At number 3 is Toradora. This show was so good it blew my mind, I’ve always seen this show when I browsed the catalog but never took time to watch it. Needless to say I’m very glad I did. Toradora offers a little bit of everything; comedy, despair, love and suspense. A must watch for anyone who is looking for a great show.

“It’s Ryuji’s first day as a junior in high school and it seems as if things are looking up. He gets to sit in between his only friend, Yusaku, and, more importantly, the girl he’s secretly crushing on, Minori Kushieda. But just when he thinks the stars are aligned in his favor, he unwittingly crosses the most feared girl in school, Taiga Aisaku, making her onto his arch enemy. To top it off, Taiga has moved in right next door to Ryuji and happens to be Minori’s best friend! Can this school year possibly get any worse?!”

Where to watch: Crunchyroll and Hulu.

Now its time for the Final two!

2. Your Name

At number two is Your Name. This was a hard one for me because I loved this movie so much. It was definitely a hit among all who have seen it. A magnificent story of two people who stay far away that switch places. The story was told beautifully with amazing art and animation. Not to mention the soundtrack that will leave you in tears. For more of my full thoughts on this please check out my review below.

“The day the stars fell, two lives changed forever. High schoolers Mitsuha and Taki are complete strangers living separate lives. But one night, they suddenly switch places. Mitsuha wakes up in Taki’s body, and he in hers. This bizarre occurrence continues to happen randomly, and the two must adjust their lives around each other. Yet, somehow, it works. They build a connection and communicate by leaving notes, messages, and more importantly, an imprint.”

Where to watch: Your name is currently unavailable to watch on any legal streaming outlets, but it is up for pre order on Amazon. Check out my review to help give you a better understanding of this amazing movie.

1. Your lie in April

At number 1 is Your Lie in April. This series I’ve must have watched over a dozen times over and over. This series is everything I want in a romance anime. A great story, great music, captivating characters with a little twist at the end. Your Lie in April is to me the best romance anime that you can watch. I promise you it will not disappoint.

“Kousei Arima was a genius pianist until his mother’s sudden death took away his ability to play. Each day was dull for Kousei. But, then he meets a violinist named Kaori Miyazono who has an eccentric playing style. His monotonus life was about to change forever.”

Where to watch: Crunchyroll, Netflix and Hulu
