This weekend the movie It was dethroned as the top movie at the box office. Kingsman: The Golden Circle just barely made enough to be first place. With $39 million in it’s first weekend, the movie already made more in the opening weekend then the first Kingsman movie.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle opened against strong competition from It, Friend Request, and The Lego Ninjago Movie.
The Kingsman have to go to the US to get help from the Statesman after their headquarters where destroyed. The movie brings back some of the original cast including Colin Firth back as Harry Hart. The movie It still made $30 million making it’s grand worldwide total to $478 million. Without accounting for inflation this movie is now the top horror rated R movie released domestically. Also domestically It has become the fifth highest grossing movie this year. The newest Lego movie was just released and it didn’t have the same punch as the past two movies did. The Ninjago movie opened with a decent $21 million this weekend. The three movies combined have almost grossed $1 billion in world wide sales.
Weekend Top FIve
5. Home Again $3.3 million
4. American Assassin $6 million
3. Ninjago Movie $21 million
2. It $30 million
1. Kingsman: Golden Circle $39 million
Next weekend a few movies will be released that don’t really seem like they can complete with the killer clown or the Kingsman. The newest Tom Cruise movie American Made along with Flatliners and Til Death Do Us Part are coming out in a wide release. With the Fall season here and that awful month of August behind us expect more horror movies to be released. In the world of trailers a few have been released since the last time I wrote the last article. A new Jumanji 2 trailer, Tomb Raider reboot, and a new international trailer for Happy Death Day. I’ll even throw in the new trailer for The Punisher coming to Netflix. Hopefully this show will be better then The Defenders. Until next weekend watch a movie and relax a little.
