A recent Final Fantasy XV stream by Square Enix has brought a ton of announcements and several of them are quite disheartening. To start, Hajime Tabata, Director of Final Fantasy XV, is leaving Square Enix. On top of that, these announcements have seen three of the four remaining Final Fantasy XV DLCs cancelled. You can check out the stream here but please be aware it’s in Japanese.
After the success of the base game and the positive reception to the DLCs of the first season pass, Square Enix had announced that four new episodes would release in 2019: Episode Ardyn, Episode Lunafreya, Episode Arenea and Episode Noctis. Now, the latter three episodes have been cancelled.
Final Fantasy XV Episode Ardyn is still coming and will release in March 2019. This episode tells Ardyn’s story, detailing his struggles against the kingdom of Lucis and the Astrals. For more information, you can check out the trailer below:

To say this news is unexpected and shocking would be an understatement. We wish the best to Hajime Tabata wherever he decides to go next.
After it released in November 2016, Final Fantasy XV sold very well, hitting 6 million copies sold by January 2017 and 8.1 million copies sold by September 2018. Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD, a mobile version of the game, also came to consoles earlier this year.
