This AMD Graphics Card will melt your face

AMD announced their new AMD Radeon Pro Duo graphics card, which features not one, but two Fiji GPU’s which is paired with a massive 8Gb of HBM Memory. HBM (High bandwith memory) is the latest push in the graphics memory space which theoretically can push speeds of up to 2Gbps. DDR5 which will feature in the upcoming PS4 refresh with a leaked speed of over 200Mbps is quite slow in comparison.

The graphics card which is cooled by a built in liquid cooling system, will push clock speeds (up to) 1000Mhz per second, and has a peak performance of 16 terraflops. In comparison, this card crushes the current GTX980, the favorite amongst PC gamers with a mere 5 terraflops of compute. Consoles fare even worse at 1.8 terraflops at the high end.

It eats 8Gb DDR5 for Breakfast

The graphics card doesn’t come cheap either, with a recommended retail price of $1499, and a 350W power consumption requirement, it won’t be sitting cozy in anyone’s PC anytime soon, unless you have a rig that can handle this raw power, and you have cash to burn. AMD touts this card as a perfect companion to the rise of VR gaming, and with current graphics hardware barely being able to handle it properly, if you’re looking at building that dream VR entertainment system, look no further.
