The Surface Book is the Best Laptop Money Can Buy. Period

When Panos Panay announced the new Surface Book, you could hear the emotion in his voice as his passion for the Surface brand and Microsoft came through with the new Surface Book. No wonder he received a standing ovation at the Microsoft Event in New York on Tuesday October 6th.

The Surface Book breaks the dreary annual release of standard laptop designs we’ve been used to for the last 10 years. Never has any product inspired so much awe and excitement as the new Surface Book did. And for good reason. The Surface Book is machined from a solid block of Magnesium, a metal harder and more resilient than Aluminum, which was used in their successful Surface line since the reveal in 2012.

But the Surface Book isn’t just a standard laptop. With 12 hours of battery life it beats out it’s competitors in the same class hands down. According to Microsoft it’s twice as powerful as the latest MacBook Pro.

The Surface Book is also a hybrid tablet/laptop device, and when the need takes you just pop off the display and you have a glorified Surface Pro device right in your hands. With 1024 points of pressure sensitivity, it blows anything available on the market away. It’s also the thinnest Core i7 tablet device available. What’s more, is that the discreet graphics (optional) is built right into the base, so that when you want to take the tablet with you, you won’t have to worry about draining the battery with the extra graphics chip in the device gobbling up all your power. When you need the additional horsepower, just attach the keyboard base and off you go, you have desktop class graphics available.

Configurations start at Core i5/8Gb/128GB at a steep $1499, but with other devices in its class with cheaper builds and worse specifications, this is the definitive laptop for business and personal use cases.

The Surface Book is currently available for pre-order and will ship October 26th starting at $1499. It includes the Surface Pen.
