Fans of the Spider-Man trilogy from Saim Raimi got a pleasant surprise today. After months of demands from vocal fans, conflict among the web-slinger’s fandom and quite a bit of frustration, the version of the Spider-Suit worn by Tobey Maguire is finally playable in for the PlayStation 4. You won’t even have to pay anything if you already own a copy of the game. The announcement was made by developer Insomniac Games via Twitter. You can check out the tweet for yourself below:
We have a special holiday gift for #SpiderManPS4 players. Today's game update will include a highly requested suit. Hint: It's webbed and it's FREE for owners of Marvel's Spider-Man! pic.twitter.com/6DLTxPFSaE

The Raimi suit was hinted at a few months ago but was never officially announced until now.
“Just know things take a LONG time sometimes (months and months!) and even then go down to the literal wire,” wrote James Stevenson, Community Manager for Innsomniac Games on Twitter.
I personally suspect that the fine folks over at Insomniac Games always intended to include the Raimi suit but the process was bogged down with negotiations between the studio, Sony and Marvel Comics.
Whatever the reason, it is great to finally have this suit in the game. The Raimi era of Spider-Man seems to get a lot of criticism these days (some of it entirely justified) but that trilogy of movies was an important step in modernizing our friendly neighborhood superhero.
