The October 2018 Xbox Update Goes Live Today

The October 2018 Xbox Update is going out today, an announcement on Xbox Wire has confirmed. This update brings with it the long-awaited new Xbox Avatars, Xbox Skill for Alexa and Cortana, Dolby Vision streaming and new languages for Narrator.

Xbox Avatars

The very long-awaited new Xbox Avatars are now here. You can customize them in the Avatar Editor, use the Photobooth to take pictures and more. If you prefer your old original avatar, you can swap back to it with the Xbox Original Avatar app.

Xbox Skill for Alexa and Cortana

This update also brings Xbox Skill for Alexa and Cortana. The Xbox Skill app allows you to use Cortana or Alexa on your Xbox One. For more information, you can check out the original announcement post here.

Dolby Vision Streaming

Dolby Vision streaming is now available for compatible TVs. This will be available on Xbox One S and Xbox One X. Dolby Vision streaming improves HDR for things like Premium Netflix shows.

New Narrator Languages

Five new languages have been added to Narrator: Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Swedish, and Dutch. There’s also an Australian version of English, added to the U.K. and U.S. versions of English.
