Nintendo has been talking about the Wii U’s Zelda game ever since the console was announced, sadly it’s take until the console’s final days for it to be finally revealed. However, the new Zelda looks like it’ll be a great send off to one of the most underrated consoles of all-time. The new Zelda, titled The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, was officially revealed today during E3. Nintendo’s released both an official trailer as well as a ton of gameplay.
The trailer shows off the game’s beautiful world which features a large variety of different locales from tropical beaches and jungles to dry deserts to snowy mountain tops; the new Zelda is full of diverse areas that will be sure to be filled to the brim with secrets to discover.
The game also showcases a good amount of gameplay elements. Link is shown gliding around using a parachute, he’s shown cooking in the forest and of course fighting various bad guys. An intersting thing to note is that the environment will play a big role in the gameplay; Link is shown cutting down a tree to create a make-shift bridge, he’s shown shooing down a beehive to make the bees attack an enemy and various other elements like that. Link is also carrying a device that can shape the environment in multiple ways, it was shown off in the trailer creating platforms that Link used to traverse a lake.
The new Zelda definitely seems like it’ll have a heavy focus on survival and discovering things in the wilderness, though there’s sure to be all of the series staples as well.
There is no release date for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild but it is set to release in 2017 on both the Wii U and Nintendo’s next console, the NX.
