Bandai Namco has announced during the Tokyo Game Show that a Sword Art Online VR game is in the works. The SAO game will be a replica of the show, where players will find themselves in Aincrad and go through the events of the first season of the anime.
Players will be fighting alongside Kirito and Asuna as an unnamed character who you can see in the screenshots below. There is no word yet on which VR system these test will be conducted on as of this writing.
Bandai is also accepting applications for those who wish to participate during the testing events held at Tokyo Sky Tree Solamachi from December 8 to December 10. Those who have been selected will receive word on November 16th through the 301h.
As of now this is only for Japan, there is currently no information regarding whether this will be heading to the West anytime soon.
