In EA’s financial call today, EA shared a bit of the future of Star Wars games. They’ve confirmed plans to release a new Star Wars game every year for the next three to four years.
This will begin next year with the release of Star Wars: Battlefront II, this comes as no surprise as EA announced the recent Battlefront game sold 14 million copies. EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said the sequel will have “bigger and better worlds” and will make use of content from “the new movies.” Whether this means both the prequel trilogy and episodes 7/8 or just episodes 7/8 is left to be seen.
EA also announced that Visceral’s Star Wars game will come out in 2018. Visceral has been working on their game ever since EA got the Star Wars license in 2013. Ex-Naughty Dog creative director, Amy Henig, is working on the game. There have been many rumors that EA is working on a sequel to the cult classic Star Wars: Republic Commando, so perhaps that is Visceral’s game?
E3 is just a month away, so perhaps we will get a glimpse at one or both of these games then.
