In a blog post earlier today Sony announced that PlayStation as a brand has officially moved 525.3 million PlayStation systems worldwide. This includes PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, and all of their handhelds. This is an insane amount of consoles, and PlayStation deserves a round of applause for the quality they have brought to the console market since back in 1994. In celebration of hitting this milestone, Sony has unveiled a special edition PS4 Pro.
The 500 million PS4 Pro, features a translucent blue console, with a matching Dualshock 4 controller, the bundle will also include a PlayStation camera, a vertical stand, and a mono headset. What makes this Pro very unique however is the large 2TB hard drive, which is the largest hard drive that has ever been released with a PS4 Pro. This console will be extremely limited as Sony only plans to release 50,000 of these consoles worldwide. They will retail for $499.99 USD (MSRP) / $639.99 CAD (MSRP) which is slightly more pricey than other Pro bundles, but considering its limited quantity and what the bundle contains it is well worth the value. In a very unique feature, every 500 million PS4 Pro will feature a unique copper faceplate that will have its unique serial number engraved on. Sony also teased that there would a few very special consoles that would have serial numbers that pointed to unique events throughout Playstation’s history. These extra special serial numbers include 01115 (US launch date of PS4 – November 15, 2013), 09995 (US Launch Date of the original PlayStation – September 9th, 1995) and 01013 (US Launch Date of PSVR – October 13, 2016). This is the ultimate bit of fan service for those that are huge fans of the PlayStation brand.
The translucent Dualshock 4 will be available for purchase for on its own for $64.99 USD (MSRP) / $74.99 CAD (MSRP). PlayStation is also launching a 500 Million Limited Edition Gold Wireless Headset which will be available for purchase for  $99.99 USD (MSRP) / $119.99 CAD (MSRP).
The 500 million PS4 Pro will be available to purchase at select retailers August 24th, with the standalone controller and headset being available sometime in early September. Check out the PlayStation Blog post for more information.
