Solo Takes First With a Soft Landing

Solo: A Star Wars Story was released over the long holiday weekend. I think it is time for Disney to slow down on the amount of Star Wars movies that are coming out. If you need proof of that, look no further than the fact that Solo did not have a great opening weekend. I mean, it did make some money, just not the amounts of money a Star Wars movie should bring in.

Solo opened with a low $103 million. When you compare that to other that to the rest of the recently released Disney films it is dead last in terms of revenue. It really shows that the movie was released too soon after The Last Jedi. Needless to say, fans did love this movie. It just isn’t something everyone had to see right away except for the most die hard fans. Deadpool 2 took in a healthy $55 million which means the movie has brought in almost $500 million worldwide. The Avengers: Infinity War took in $21.2 million this weekend.

Weekend Top Five

5. Life of the Party $6.9 million

4. Book Club $9.5 million

3. Avengers: Infinity War $21.2 million

2. Deadpool 2 $55 million

1. Solo $103 million

Action Point and Adrift both will be released this weekend. It seems that either movie could easily take the top spot from Deadpool 2 and Solo. The Summer movie season is just begging and expect the top spot to change all the time. Incredibles 2 and Jurassic World 2 will be coming out later in June. Expect both of those movie to do very well.
