In a post on grabitmagazine.com, author Chris Stead claims that a representative from The Coalition studio told him that there will be split screen cop-op in Gears of War 4 campaign. Chris stated in his post “Minutes after my Halo 5: Guardians behind closed doors session I walked into the little booth where The Coalition were showing off its upcoming work on the Gears of war series.” He went on to say “Still smarting from the Halo 5: Guardians news (no split screen co-op), I was quick to jump on the issue with the developer’s representative.” He then asked the representative. “You’re not going to drop spilt screen co-op too, are you?” He then claims that the representative assured him that it will be a feature in Gears of War 4.
Let’s get this out of the way first, this is purely rumor. This supposedly happened at Gamescom this year. What is surprising is that he sat on this news for this long and just all of a sudden decided to share his story. I reached out to author Chris Stead but haven’t heard back. By judging from his comment in his own comment section it looks like he doesn’t want to share any other information, including his source. Gears of War 4 is a highly anticipated sequel in the Gears of War franchise from the Microsoft studio The Coalition. Stay tuned for more information on Gears of War 4.
