This week Rockstar lost one of their co-founders when Dan Houser announced he would be leaving. Now players have learned today that another individual will be leaving his company that he has spent the last 15 years at. Rod Fergusson has announced that he will be leaving The Coalition behind to join Blizzard.
His tweet explained that he will now be working at Blizzard to oversee the Diablo franchise. This is some bittersweet news coming from someone so loved in the gaming industry for what he has done with Gears of War. The good news is that Mr. Fergusson will be working on the Diablo franchise, one of many player’s favorite franchises that haven’t been getting enough love from their developer.
Starting in March, I will join Blizzard to oversee the Diablo franchise. Leaving is bittersweet as I love our Gears family, the fans, and everyone at The Coalition and Xbox. Thank you, it has been an honor and a privilege to work with you all. pic.twitter.com/0FuO3RFYSQ

Rod Fergusson also tweeted out how grateful he has been for working at The Coalition for as long as he did. He also commented that Gears Tactics is in great hands when it arrives on April 28th. Don’t forget that players can still jump into a Gears game on their mobile phone. Gears POP is in its sixth season at the moment. This isn’t the first person to leave Microsoft for Blizzard. Mike Ybarra also left Microsoft to become the executive vice-president and general manager at Blizzard. I wonder who will be the next big name in gaming to leave their studio behind? Let us know how you feel about Rod Fergusson moving on to Blizzard in the comment section below.
