Naughty Dog Vet Rogelio Olguin Joins 343

Another Chapter Unfolds

Some interesting news today for Halo fans around the world. Rogelio Olguin is joining 343 Industries. Rogelio is a Senior Environment Artist that has been working for Naughty Dog for over 6 years and spent 2 years at Crystal Dynamics. Rogelio’s pedigree is extensive in the gaming industry and will be a very valuable asset to 343.

Rogelio Olguin

He has worked on games such as Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, The Last of Us, Tomb Raider and more. Rogelio has been working in the games industry for over 18 years, and has 5 AAA games under his belt. He has also received the “Sony imageworks scholarship” for his excellence in lighting and rendering.

It seems 343 industries is really looking to step up their game with Halo: Infinite and their new SlipSpace game engine. As much as Rogelio has a great history with Naughty Dog, it seems that what 343 is creating has him so excited that he was willing to part ways.

“Always loved the Halo universe and 343 has something special coming up.  Something so special that 343 managed to rip me from the clutches of a studio I hold near and dear to my heart Naughty Dog!” – Rogelio Olguin

His specalities include: “Allegorithmic Substance Designer 4: Knowledge of tool creation and texture workflows.
Autodesk Maya: Hard/Soft Surface Polygon Modeling / Lighting / Surfacing / UV Mapping
Pixologic Zbrush:: Sculpting / Texturing.
Unreal – UDK: Level Design / BSP blocking / Shader Creation / Lighting / Environment assembly.
Photoshop: Texturing / Digital Painting”.

Halo: Infinite is ramping up to change the face of the series, and with Rogelio apart of the team at 343 we can only assume that Xbox is playing hardball with their future exclusives.
