Sorry Xbox rock stars, but you’ll have to pay more the standalone Rock Band 4 than our friends using the PlayStation 4. Harmonix has announced the pricing details for that edition of the game with the PlayStation 4 version costing the normal $60, while the Xbox One version will be $80.
Now don’t get your pitchforks out just yet as there’s a reasonable answer for the raised price; the Xbox One version comes with a “Legacy Game Controller Adapter” that allows players to use their old equipment from previous Rockband games. The PlayStation 4 version does not come with this as that console natively supports PlayStation 3 equipment. This has been a common problem this gen as the PlayStation 4 also supports PlayStation 3 fightsticks, while the Xbox One doesn’t support Xbox 360 fightsticks.
If you’re new to the world of Rock Band you will be able to purchase either a bundle that comes with a guitar for $130 or a bundle that comes with a guitar and drum set for $250. Rock Band 4 definitely won’t be a cheap purchase, but the return of the popular music series might just be worth the price of admission.
Rock Band 4 is set to be released on October 6th on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
