Hopefully this article will be old news to Destiny 2 players. By that I mean you have already jumped into the holiday event, The Dawning. Since the Faction Rallies was postponed due to some issues players had with the game itself, it’s nice to see an event that will benefit everybody who plays the game.
Ikora Rey actually has the best answer for what this event really means to Destiny 2 players:
The Traveler is awake. For Humanity, a new Golden Age has begun. This year’s Dawning is unlike any other—it’s not just the renewal that a new year brings, but the dawn of something greater. Now more than ever, we must gather together in the Tower, at the Farm, and all across the system to give thanks. Our Light has returned—and it illuminates everything around us.
Now players will be able to partake in Snowball fights. This is actually really handy when you’re playing a mission. Those Snowballs pack a punch when you see a group of Taken or really any other enemies. The insane Crucible match Mayhem is back as well. Try to see how many kills you can get with your special before the other team does the same and outscore the other team.
The loot for The Dawning is going to be good. Players will be able to check with Tess each week to see a new exotic available to buy. Bungie also has a consumable available that will give all players that you had just played with a special gift. I just seemed to get nothing but Shaders when I was playing with people today. You may notice that Ikera Rey is standing next to a large group of presents. Those presents hold a special Milestone that allows the player to complete certain tasks to earn a special gift from one of the vendors. Now this event starts today on December 19th and ends on January 9th. That gives you plenty of time to enjoy the event.
