Reggie Fils-Aime Is Stepping Down From Nintendo of America; Doug Bowser Named New President

We have some very surprising news to share today. As announced by Business Wire, Reggie Fils-Aime is stepping down from Nintendo. Reggie has served as the President of Nintendo for more than 15 years. After joining Nintendo in 2003, he became the President and COO of Nintendo of America in 2006. Since then, he has endeared himself to Nintendo fans with his personality and style of presentation. On April 15th, 2019, he will step down from his role.

Doug Bowser (a fitting name) has been named the new President of Nintendo of America. Doug joined Nintendo of America in 2015 as the Vice President of Sales.

“Nintendo owns a part of my heart forever,” Fils-Aime said. “It’s a part that is filled with gratitude – for the incredibly talented people I’ve worked with, for the opportunity to represent such a wonderful brand, and most of all, to feel like a member of the world’s most positive and enduring gamer community. As I look forward to departing in both good health and good humor, this is not ‘game over’ for me, but instead ‘leveling up’ to more time with my wife, family and friends.”

Reggie Fils-Aime left this message for Nintendo fans:

With Damon Baker, former Senior Manager of Publisher and Developer Relations recently joining Xbox, there’s some interesting transitions going on at Nintendo right now. We’d like to wish the best to Reggie Fils-Aime in his retirement and hope he gets some well-earned rest.
