Quentin Tarantino is Lining up His Next Film

Quentin Tarantino is currently developing a movie about the Manson family murders, according to The Hollywood Reporter. His last film was The Hateful Eight, released in January 2016. In the past the director has approached genres such as the Western, crime thriller and Blaxploitation, mixing them with his own unique approach, resulting in general box office and critical success. This new film therefore, highlights a departure for Tarantino, as it would be the first time he has tackled a real life event.

Although little is known of the script, one of the threads reportedly focuses on Sharon Tate. She was the actress and wife of famous Hollywood director Roman Polanski. Tate, eight months pregnant at the time, was murdered by Charles Manson’s followers in the summer of 1969.

In terms of casting for this grim tale, a few names have been thrown around. Unsurprisingly, long-time Tarantino collaborator Samuel L. Jackson is thought to be one of the leads. Also Brad Pitt, who worked with the director on Inglorious Basterds, is potentially in talks, according to Deadline. He may be the detective investigating the murder. As for the role of Sharon Tate, it’s been reported that Margot Robbie is in talks to play the actress. There’s also been rumours of Jennifer Lawrence perhaps being involved too.

As expected everybody is keeping tight-lipped about the project at the moment. Quentin Tarantino’s script for The Hateful Eight was infamously leaked online, prompting outrage from the director. He even swore off adapting it for a while. Hence why no formal announcement has been made about this film as of yet.

The Hollywood Reporter state that the Weinsteins are involved in a producing capacity, and that the movie is set to shoot in 2018, quite possibly in the summer.
