We have known for a while now that there would be a sequel to 2012’s Prometheus. Details other than the fact that it was in the works have been a bit sketchy, no longer however. It was now been announced that principal filming for Prometheus 2 will begin in January of next year. The original 2012 movie was set as a tie-in to the Alien franchise. Recently, Ridley Scott director of both Prometheus and the 1979 Alien film spoke about the confirmed absence of the icon Alien creature from Prometheus‘ sequel:
“I think you’ve got to come back with something more interesting. And I think we’ve found the next step. I thought the Engineers were quite a good start.”
