Pricing and Games Have Been Revealed For Google Stadia

Google Stadia is the newcomer to the gaming industry after it’s original reveal a few months ago, it left more questions than answers. How much would it cost? What games would be available on the console? Thanks to the Google Stadia Connect event we now have more information than ever before.

Google Stadia will be launching a “Founders Edition” available November 2019 and available for pre-order right now. The Stadia’s Founders Edition will be available for $129 USD and will include a special “Night-Blue” Stadia Controller, Google Chromecast Ultra and 3 months of Stadia pro, and a copy of Destiny 2 including all of the game’s expansions. Now that all sounds pretty great in terms of bang for your buck, but you may be asking. What’s Stadia Pro?

Stadia Pro: Is the subscription service that offers various options to the consumer in how they play their games. For $9.99 a month Stadia Pro members can play stream games at 4k/60fps, get additional free games, and get discounts on games they buy. Yes, you heard that right not only is Google selling a subscription-based upon what quality in which you play your games, you also have to purchase games without an option to download. The Stadia Base which doesn’t launch until 2020 will allow players to stream games in 1080p/60 FPS and allows players to buy games, but does not have any of the other benefits that come with a pro membership.

Now the most important question. What games are going to be available on Google Stadia? 28 games have already been confirmed for Google Stadia, while the list is dominated by 3rd party games and games that have already launched. Here is the full list.

3rd party support is strong right out the gate for Google Stadia which may be a good thing, because it will be a while before Google can start firing on all cylinders with the likes of Nintendo, PlayStation, and Microsoft. The road ahead for Stadia may be challenging and the true test will be if Google can persevere and fight for the mindshare of a deeply ingrained gaming market. Only time will tell.
