PlayStation Firmware 6.50 Brings iOS Remote Play Support

The new firmware update 6.50 for PlayStation 4 has released, bringing an interesting new feature. PlayStation iOS Streaming is now possible through Remote Play over Wi-Fi.

You can see the announcement tweet for PlayStation iOS streaming support below:

In order to use this new feature, you’ll need to download the 6.50 firmware on your PS4. You can download the Remote Play app right here. Here’s the app details:

Use PS4 Remote Play to access your PS4 via Wi-Fi wherever you go.

  • Display the PS4 screen on your mobile device.
  • Use the on-screen controller on your mobile device to control your PS4.
  • Join voice chats using the mic on your mobile device.

It’s important to note that you cannot use a DualShock 4 controller with your mobile device, so you’ll be required to use the on-screen controller.

PlayStation has been working on improving their services, allowing PS NOW subscribers to download PS4/PS2 remastered games to their consoles, instead of being forced to stream them. Hopefully we’ll see this new service expand outside of iOS devices in the future.
