The Playstation 2 has finally been laid to rest in Japan. The console has not been in production for six years when it ended in 2012, yet customer services have been going on since. Kotaku has reported that Sony is now ending all aftercare and any other customer service needs.
Apparently players had until August 31st to fill out an online form that would have allowed those consoles to be looked over one last time before services were shut down. If players didn’t register before the end of August then they were too late. After September 7th a chunk of our gaming past will finally be over. I remember spending most of my Summer after High School playing Grand Theft Auto 3 and finally rewatching the first season of Buffy The Vampire Slayer on DVD (DVD players where extremely expensive in 2001).
This week just take second to think about the greatest-selling console of all time. Now if you haven’t played attention to the games available on Playstation Plus this September here is a link to help you out.
