Playing Xbox 360 Games On PC May Be Possible One Day

During Microsoft’s E3 2015 press conference Phil Spencer astonished the crowd with the announcement of backwards compatibility on Xbox One. It can be argued that backwards compatibility is more important now than ever before because many significant games are only sold through digital distribution. These games cannot be sold or traded in so when a gamer moves on from an older system there will be no way to play these games unless the new console has some sort of way to run them.

Over the last several months Microsoft has teased additional possibilities such as playing original Xbox games on Xbox One and according to an interview posted on the Gizmodo Brazil website and translated by the good people at MyGaming, we may be able to play our Xbox 360 on PC.

When asked about backwards compatibility, Phil Spencer said, “I would love to have the ability to play Xbox 360 on PC at some point too, so we have different things we have to think about when we plan these things.”

This is not an official announcement, of course. Still, it is nice to know that the Xbox team is at least considering the option instead of claiming it is too hard.
