With the addition of new leadership yesterday, Phil Spencer admitted he had his ear open to the public opinions concerning Xbox.
Venture Beat’s reveal of Matt Booty as the new head of Microsoft Studios had many insights into what was going on in the company, more specifically what is going on with the portfolio of games Microsoft is sitting on. According to Spencer “I’m not deaf to the meme out there regarding our content and our need to invest more. Definitely, we are at a point where we’re investing more and we’ll continue to do that.” This transparency between Spencer and the community is one of Spencer’s more prominent leadership features that made him the successor to the Xbox brand after Don Mattrick’s era.

This new focus on increasing the investment of games isn’t entirely new. While it wasn’t as common before Spencer took the role of head of gaming at Microsoft, Spencer has been on record uttering a strong interest in expanding support for new content at Xbox. During the Xbox One X release week the Xboss as he has been come to be known went on live video with Bloomberg sharing the reinvigorated view on gaming at Microsoft. With CEO Satya Nadella promoting Phil Spencer into becoming the direct point of contact in regards to gaming, both Nadella and Spencer were adamant of the financial potential in gaming. The company would be looking to create new gaming experience or flat out acquire talent if need be.

With several high profile games rumored to be in the works, it may very well be the case that Phil Spencer and Matt Booty hope to bring in more classic gaming moments to the Xbox brand in the next few years.
