Pac-Man Vs. Will Be Included in Namco Museum on Switch

Looks like Namco Museum‘s Nintendo Switch debut hasn’t finalized its game catalog just yet! In a surprise maneuver by Bandai Namco, the company’s Twitter displayed a brief video teaser on an announcement tweet. Said teaser shows the results screen of Pac-Man Vs. The tweet is otherwise vague, as it doesn’t say anything else other than the fact this announcement has something to do with the Gamecube classic.

However, JapaneseNintendo.com‘s report reveals that not only has Namco Museum been confirmed for a Japanese release, but Pac-Man Vs. has been added to the collection’s lineup as well. For those unfamiliar with the game, this is a multiplayer spin on the arcade formula in which three players control ghosts and one player plays as Pac-Man. Whoever touches Pac-Man gets to play as him in the next round, and whoever has the most points at the end wins the game. The result is a hugely fun experience with friends and family.

This isn’t the first time Pac-Man Vs. has appeared on a Namco Museum (that honor goes to Namco Museum DS), but it hasn’t been seen in the mainstream since then. Considering the Nintendo Switch only has one screen, though, it’s a mystery as to how Bandai Namco will work out its multiplayer aspects on the console. In the Gamecube original, the Game Boy Advance – connected via link cable – is used to control Pac-Man. Maybe a 3DS or another Switch will be used for the same thing? Also worth noting is that Pac-Man Vs. was never released standalone; in its heyday, it was bundled with a certain other Pac-Man game that’s gained a cult following…Hmm…

Anyway, this inclusion is sure to add some value to the overall package by the time Namco Museum hits stores this summer. Who knows? Maybe there will even be some more additions to the catalog along the way.
