New Details For Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5

Today a new trailer for Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5, seen above, was released. This video has interviews with Tony Hawk, Riley Hawk (his son), other skate pros, and developers from Robomodo, as well as behind-the-scenes images and footage. They talk about how Tony Hawk Pro Skater (THPS5) was inspired by previous THPS games and that there is a lot of history behind this beloved franchise. Some of the pros Riley Hawk, Nyjah Huston, and Leticia Bufoni mentioned that they use to play the older THPS games before they even became pro skaters.

The developers, Robomodo, go on to mention that old THPS players will be able to pick up the game and play it just like the old games, because of the lines to grind and great combo spots. They have even added a new gameplay mechanic to each level. For instance one of the mechanics is a “slam down”, which allows you to slam down and grind on any rail or just slam to the ground. The new Create-a-park mode allows you to go into a template, like the ones in THPS5, and just make a skatepark how you want to. You can then upload these online and have others vote and play them. You can even create challenges in these levels as well.

The online is seamless drop in/drop out with up to 20 friends per skate session. You can do this on any of the levels and do missions, unlock content, level your skater up, or do a competitive match on the go. You can also do this offline as well. This makes the campaign a “community campaign”. Robomodo said that they “wanted to make a Pro Skater game for 2015.” That with the “online features, create-a-park, and all the fun stuff from Pro Skaters that people loved” makes it the 2015 version of Pro Skater.

The game will be coming out on September 29, 2015 on the Xbox One and Playstation 4 and will cost $59.99 US. The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions don’t have a release date yet, but are expected to release by the end of the year. If you want to pre-order the game, GameStop has a bonus if you do. The bonus is called Totally Rad 80’s and is about the decade, the 1980’s, when Tony Hawk became the legend he is today. You get a circa 1986 Tony Hawk skin (usable in all game modes), a 1980’s Inspired Birdhouse in-game skateboard, and an Anti-gravity in-game board.
