Two new social features intended to connect gamers from all over the world are rolling out to Xbox Preview members according to a video recently posted by Larry Hryb – otherwise known as Major Nelson. These new features are known as Clubs and LFG (Looking for Group), respectively.
Clubs
As you might expect, clubs are a simple way for gamers to meet and socialize based on their specific interests. While most clubs will be centered around specific games such as Halo 5: Guardians or Sea of Thieves, you can create a club for almost any interest. For example, you can create a car lovers club that specializes in all racing games or a club for members in your city. The clubs feature includes an extensive set of moderation tools such as letting you choose whether you want your club to be found publicly, whether anybody can join or if invites must be sent, if cursing or trash talking is allowed and the skill level of your members.
Looking For Group
Unlike Clubs, the LFG feature is intended to find people to play a specific game. Let’s say you need to pick up a couple of crew members for Sea of Thieves or you want to assemble a group of players for a raid in Destiny – the LFG feature lets you do this and players can join your group. You will have a strong set of options for moderating your group and the feature is extensive enough that you could theoretically form a group just to earn a single achievement in a game.
Clubs and LFG are already rolling out for Xbox One. The PC and mobile Xbox app versions should be rolling out soon. In the spirit of the Xbox Play Anywhere initiative, clubs and LFG will work across Xbox consoles and Windows 10 devices.
