An all new trailer for Child’s Play was released today and it seems that the cute and cuddly Chucky has some new moves to show off. You can watch the new trailer for yourself below:
I will be the first to admit that I am not a big fan of recent horror movie franchise reboots (though I did enjoy Halloween quite a bit.) With that said, it looks like the new Child’s Play movie was smartly written. This time around Chucky is not just a simple doll. These new fangled “Buddi” can remotely sync with smart devices all over your home and control them. For example, one scene shows a man hanging on to a water pipe to save himself from falling onto a table saw below. The devious Chucky raises the water temperature which makes the pipe too hot to hang on to. We also get to see Chucky take remote control of all sorts of lethal devices like lawnmowers and aerial drones. Did I mention that Chucky is voiced by Mark Hamill? Yes, that Mark Hamill.
If I have to criticize anything about the new movie it would be that I really do not care for the look of the Chucky doll. I cannot quite put my finger on why I do not like it but I feel the older style doll looked much better on film.
Child’s Play will be out in theaters on June 21st. Check back with The Inner Circle for our review of the film.
