Monster Hunter World To Support Xbox One X; Has Region Free Servers

The Monster Hunter is a largely popular franchise that has mostly skipped consoles in the West. The series has seen a few localizations of portable titles, but there’s a large audience who’s never had the opportunity to get into this series. Capcom plans to change that with the upcoming release of Monster Hunter World, the newest entry in the series that will be coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

The reveal trailer, shown during Sony’s E3 conference, prominently featured a PS4 Pro logo. Monster Hunter World is clearly being made with the Pro in mind, but what about the Xbox One X? In an interview with GameSpot, the game’s producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto, had this to say:

“Yeah, we’re planning to support both Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. It’s great to see the specs are finally coming out for Xbox One X. So, yeah, we’re gearing up to bring you guys support for those platforms.”

Tsujimoto goes on to say that the current generation has really helped in making the monsters’ AI smarter as well as creating a much more complex and alive open world.

In addition to that, Tsujimoto confirmed that Monster Hunter World will feature region free servers, a first for the series.

“We were totally ready to take on that approach from the start, because in the past Monster Hunter has usually released first in Japan. You’ve got a period of time [before] Western releases. I think the shortest was six months for Generations, but often up to close to a year before the Western version comes out. We knew right away from the start for this game we wanted to have a simultaneous global launch window for the title.”

Monster Hunter World is shaping up to be the biggest game in the series. It’s set to release in early 2018 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
