Microsoft released their latest sizzle reel about DirectX 12. The video shows comparisons between DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 and boasts about massive performance improvements. The video claims DirectX 12 can increase GPU performance by up to 20%, and CPU performance by up to 50%.
Games showcased include the upcoming Quantum Break, Forza Motorsport 6 Apex, Fable Legends and Deus Ex. It also shows Gears of War: Ultimate Edition which is available right now on Windows 10 and Xbox One, however only the Windows 10 version has implemented the DX12 API.
Improvements include higher resolution textures and shadows, more light sources and better effects. Microsoft also boasts that DirectX 12 is seeing the fastest adoption of any API in history, so it will be interesting to see what developers can do with the improved efficiency of DirectX 12
