Some Xbox One Insiders noticed an announcement for a new feature that will likely launch soon for Xbox One and Windows 10. Players will be able to initiate a self service process for requesting refunds on digital games they have purchased and want to return.
There are of course a few conditions to qualify for a refund. It must be a full digital game. DLC, season passes and micro-transactions are not covered by the refund policy. You must claim the refund within 14 days of purchase and the game cannot have been played for more than two hours across all accounts on your console. There is also a 24 hour waiting period before you can request a refund.
Microsoft notes that some Windows 10 apps may not qualify for a refund and people who abuse the refund option may be suspended from using this feature.
This is an important step forward for digital games on consoles. A number of game distributors on PC such as GOG, Origin and Steam already offer refunds for digital games.
There is no word yet as to when this feature will launch but Microsoft will surely announce it beforehand.
One insider snapped a picture of the announcement and posted it on Reddit.
TICGN.com will report on this feature again when it is officially announced.
