It is hard to believe that just two weeks ago Microsoft hit a home run at E3 with the one-two punch of backwards compatibility, the elite controller and intriguing showings of games such as Recore, Sea of ThievesĀ and Rise of the Tomb Raider as well as classic franchises such as Halo 5, Gears of War 4 and Forza Motorport 6. It was a show to be proud of by any objective measure.
Now Microsoft is preparing for another presentation. This time they have set their sites on the largest consumer gaming show on Earth – gamecom.
An annual event held in Cologne, Germany, gamescom is roughly the European equivalent to the E3 expo. Several weeks ago the head of Microsoft’s Xbox division, Phil Spencer, commented on Twitter that the Xbox One has work to do in Europe and now the company has revealed their plans for the event.
Microsoft’s show will actually begin the evening before Gamescom with a press conference scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. local time. For those in the United States who wish to see the conference live, that will be at 7 a.m. Pacific time and 10 a.m. Eastern time. During this event we will see the latest news for games such a ScaleBound, Quantum Break and of course, Crackdown. New announcements are being teased as well; the TiC staff believes games from studios such as Twisted Pixel and Press Play will be shown there.
For those of you lucky enough to attend gamescom, Microsoft’s booth will be packed with playable displays of Halo 5: Guardians, Forza Motorsport 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider and likely games that will be announced during the press conference.
Finally, the Xbox FanFest will be revived at gamescom. This event was very successful at E3 and now gamers in Europe can join in the fun. Those who join the FanFest get exclusive access to game demos, reveal trailers and lots of swag to take home.
Check back on TiCGN.com as we bring you all the news from the upcoming gamescom event. The fun begins on August 4th.
