To the surprise of absolutely nobody, the top grossing movie for this weekend was Avengers: Infinity War. Recently we reported that the movie had crossed the $500 million mark domestically and now it has crossed the $1 billion mark in the foreign market. With this weekend’s ticket sales the movie has officially moved into the #1 spot for 2018 with another $61.8 million this weekend. Remember – these are all estimated numbers, the final numbers won’t be in until tomorrow.
Two new movies were released this weekend – Life of the Party and Breaking In. These two movies had a good first weekend when you go up against the Marvel juggernaut. Life of the Party opened with $18.5 million while Breaking In opened with $16.5 million. Other then that it was a rather slow weekend in May. That should not be the case for the next two weeks. Deadpool 2 is releasing on May 18th and then Solo: A Star Wars Story is coming out on May 25th.

Next week we finally get the second Deadpool movie. Don’t forget that two more movies will also be released right along with it – Book Club and Show Dogs. Don’t expect either of these movies to take the top two spots. Those two places are reserved for either Deadpool 2 or Avengers: Infinity War.
