Last weekend Glass had taken the top spot again. Even with the release of Miss Bala it didn’t have enough strength to become number one. This weekend The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part opened up with a disappointing $34 million. Three other movies also were released, those three movies grossed more than the second LEGO movie. All of these figures are estimated at the moment. The final numbers will be released tomorrow.
The Prodigy, Cold Pursuit, and What Men Want all opened this weekend along with The LEGO Movie 2: Second Part. The horror movie The Prodigy just didn’t connect like other horror movies have been doing lately. Thankfully horror fans did get a trailer for Child’s Play that was released in theaters before The Prodigy. It grossed a disappointing $6 million this weekend. Cold Pursuit and What Men Want both grossed more than $10 million this weekend. Don’t expect either of these two movies to be in the top three next weekend.
Weekend Top Three
3. Cold Pursuit $10 million
2. What Men Want $19 million
1. The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part $34 million
Next weekend is everyone’s favorite romantic holiday. With the Valentines weekend we get three movies that will easily take the top spot. Isn’t It Romantic and Happy Death Day 2U are both coming out. The movie that is taking the bigger risk next weekend is Alita: Battle Angel, this gorgeous movie is currently sitting at $32 million at the foreign box office. How to Train Your Dragon is sitting at $138 million world-wide right now. The movie will be released here domestically on February 22nd.
