You may have thought that you were all done with Kingdom Hearts III and had nothing left to do in the game. You were wrong; you are not quite finished yet. Or perhaps I should say – Kingdom Hearts III is not finished with you yet. It seems that the traditional Critical Mode will be released tomorrow thanks to the fine folks over at Square Enix. This will be a free update for owners of the game. You can see the announcement tweet from Kingdom Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura below:
Greetings, it’s been a while since I last posted. Spring is here, and I hope everyone is doing well. #KingdomHearts III's long-awaited Critical Mode is available as a free update tomorrow (PT).

I certainly would not mind a Kingdom Hearts III playthrough that offered a serious challenge. We do not have specific details about how Critical Mode will change the gameplay this time around but in previous installments from the Kingdom Hearts franchise we have seen effects ranging from enemy attacks dealing increased damage or lowered hit point boosts. If you have not yet played Kingdom Hearts III, be sure to check out our review of the game by Lily.
