Kinda Funny Games Showcase To Feature Over 60 Games

While many people this week will have their focus on Geoff Keighley’s Game Awards. Which is supposed to feature first time reveals for unannounced games with some high-end celebrity guest appearances. The Game Awards are always a high point to end the year with as we move into the holiday season. However, this year people should not forget about Greg Miller’s passion project that is The Kinda Funny Games Showcase this Saturday at 10 am EST on Twitch. Originally started as an idea after the cancellation of PSX which left many fans disappointed at the fact they would not being able to see a wide variety of games and developers that often were featured in the show. Greg Miller quickly reached out via Twitter telling developers and publishers that were interested in showing off their games to contact him. To no surprise, he quickly overwhelmed by support from developers of all sizes and now this weekend we will see the first ever Kinda Funny Games Showcase. The most impressive feat of this showcase is in how little time it has been put together, and the fact it will feature over 60 games. Additionally over a half dozen of those games will be downloadable and playable by the end of the showcase. In a quote from Game Informer, Greg Miller had this to say in regards to his main motivation of starting the Kinda Funny Games Showcase.

“The Game Awards take care of all the huge news, announcements, and trailers, and then PSX offers a lower key, fan/dev-focused event where other – often smaller – games can shine. With it taking 2018 off, we thought it would be a great opportunity to take it upon ourselves to offer game makers a platform to celebrate their work.”

Myself personally, I applaud Greg Miller on taking on this massive responsibility to give mid-range to small developers a platform in which to show off their games. While we don’t have PSX to look forward this year, Miller’s hard work deserves to be recognized by both fans and developers.
