Iron Galaxy and Microsoft have been hard at work adding new elements to Killer Instinct’s third season that will elevate Microsoft’s exclusive fighting franchise to another level (pun not intended).
While the full list of changes will most likely be revealed during Microsoft’s press conference next week, Killer Instinct’s Art Director, Chad Greene, shared a few details about the improved graphics. “In terms of visuals, we are adding new graphics technology; reflection tech for the stages; re-introducing screen space color adjustments that work with gameplay; adding an all-new dynamic lighting system that provides greater realism and interaction for the characters and stages,” said Greene.
This overhauled graphics and lighting system will allow the developers to use fill and rim lights in a way that appears more natural to the human eye. This in turn will allow you to see details in every stage that you wouldn’t have been able to see before.
Every stage?
Yes, Iron Galaxy went back and applied this new lighting system to all of the stages from the past two seasons. Look at the difference in detail from the images below.
