Jake Gyllenhaal Lands Role in Ubisoft’s ‘The Division’ Movie

Ubisoft is looking to take its fastest selling IP to the big screen! Actor Jake Gyllenhaal (Southpaw, Zodiac) will be starring in another Ubisoft game turned movie Tom Clancy’s The Division. According to sources at Variety, Gyllenhaal is also attached as a producer, and the studio is currently looking for a writer to pen the adaptation!

Tom Clancy’s The Division is Ubisoft fastest selling game to date, pushing over $330 Million in sales. The Division was developed and published by Ubisoft, with assistance from Red Storm Entertainment. The third-person shooter is set in a New York City in the aftermath of a smallpox pandemic. The player, who is an agent of the Strategic Homeland Division, referred to as “The Division,” is tasked with helping to rebuild the Division’s operations in Manhattan, investigating the nature of the outbreak and combating criminal activity in its wake. The game was released on March 8th 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC and was well received by critics with a meta score of 80.

This would be the fifth Ubisoft based game to be slated for a film, Far Cry went to the big screen in 2008, Prince of Persia which also starred Gyllenhaal released in 2010.
