In-Game Purchases Being Removed From Star Wars: Battlefront II

The latest Star Wars game is hours away from launching on consoles. Star Wars Battlefront II will be competing against the recent Call of Duty game from Sledgehammer. The one thing that has overshadowed the problems with the latest Call of Duty has been the unfair advantages that in-game purchases in Battlefront II can cause. It has caused such an uproar that the developers have decided to drop in game purchases completely.

In a recent blog post from the Star Wars: Battlefront II blog Oskar Gabrielson, GM of DICE stated:

“We hear you loud and clear, so we’re turning off all in-game purchases. We will now spend more time listening, adjusting, balancing and tuning. This means that the option to purchase crystals in the game is now offline, and all progression will be earned through gameplay. The ability to purchase crystals in-game will become available at a later date, only after we’ve made changes to the game. We’ll share more details as we work through this.”

This new stance taken by DICE should help ease those tensions that fans had. At the time of writing this EA hasn’t released a statement on this recent update. Star Wars: Battlefront II will be available on PS4,Xbox One, and PC. Some players have already had a chance to play the game this week. The rest of us who have been waiting to see how this would play out can start playing on launch day.
