Developer Housemarque (Resogun, Alienation) has released new information regarding PlayStation 4 game, Matterfall. During Gamescom Housemarque Media Correspondent, Rudolf Westerholm, wrote on their website:
Hi there and greetings from Gamescom! It’s been a while since we’ve had the possibility to say anything regarding Matterfall, so here goes: Some of you might have guessed from the trailer, but today we are officially letting the info out that Matterfall is indeed a “side scrolling shooter!”
Along with the official announcement of Matterfall being a side scrolling shooter. New concept art was revealed showing a new area of the game.
When I first saw the reveal trailer for Matterfall, I was expecting something more along the lines of Shadow Complex rather than Contra or Gunstar Heroes. Judging by past games, the latter does fit more in Housemarque’s wheelhouse. Given Housemarque’s pedigree when it comes to bullet hell shooters, this game is going to be intense and a lot of fun. I guarantee bullets will fly. Though it would have been nice to see them branch out a bit but maybe that’s what their other in house games might accomplish.
Information was also released on Housemarque’s other game, code-named the Jarvis Project. New concept art released shows you just a glimpse of the main character. Showing a potential character wearing a Tron inspired suit surrounded by broken machinery and skulls, the image provides a tease of what’s to come in the full game. However, anything else about the game is still shrouded in mystery. Luckily more information about the game will surface soon enough according to House Marque.
Westerholm noted that the Jarvis Project is progressing steadily. The first reveal trailer, official name, and gameplay will be coming at one of the next big gaming events. There aren’t too many big gaming events left in the year, but my guess is the information will come during PlayStation Experience. If the event does indeed happen this year.
