The House With a Clock In Its Walls opens on top

The box office is just going into a funk without those big Summer blockbusters. The House With A Clock In Its Walls took the top spot with a decent $26.8 million. No other new release even made it into the top five this week. In fact, The Predator dropped down to fourth place. Its going to be a rough finish for 2018.

The Summer season ended last weekend with the poor performance of Predator. It seems that those types of numbers will continue for the rest of the year. The House With A Clock In Its Walls had a good opening weekend with minimal competition. The Nun didn’t even have that bad of a weekend landing in the third spot with $10.2 million. That movie has crossed the $100 million mark domestically and sits at $292 million world-wide. It seems that The Conjuring universe is still extremely popular. Start looking for more spooky movies as October is nearly here.

Weekend Top Five

5. Crazy Rich Asians $6.5 million

4. The Predator $8.7 million

3. The Nun $10.2 million

2. A Simple Favor $10.4 million

1. The House With a Clock in its Walls $26.8 million

Three movies will be coming for the top spot next weekend. The animated family film Smallfoot, Hell Fest, and Kevin Harts Night School. Each of these three movies should easily make more then $15 million next weekend. The first look of Joaquin Phoenix as The Joker hit the internet this week. Of course we had the makeup free picture, now take a look at Joker in full makeup.
