Here is the first batch of games coming to the new Epic store, Ashen temporary PC exclusive

Update: Annapurna Interactive has confirmed that Ashen is a temporary PC exclusive on the Epic Games store but will come to other shops in the future including the Windows 10 store. Have a look at the tweet:

Epic Games surprised us a few days ago with the announcement of their own PC game store to compete with Steam, GoG and the recently launched Discord shop. The new Epic Games store is intended to be friendlier to game developers by offering a curated selection and offering a bigger cut from each sale. The only question was that if the new shop would not be open to most developers then what games would be available for purchase?

That question was answered last night at The Game Awards through a list of video games that would be available on the Epic Games store for the next month or so. It turns out that there are some surprising selections on the list. Have a look for yourself. Games marked with an asterisk are available now.

Darksiders III

Hello Neighbor: Hide and Seek*

Genesis Alpha One

Outer Wilds

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw

Subnautica (You can get this for free from December 14th to December 27th)

Super Meat Boy (You can get this for free from December 28th to January 10th)

Super Meat Boy Forever

World War Z

The game Hades comes to us from Supergiant Games, the studio that created Bastion. None of us had any idea that this game was even in development let alone scheduled to release on a brand new storefront. Journey is another game that should raise some eyebrows – it has been a PlayStation exclusive for years now. And then there is Ashen – it had just released on Xbox One and is now on the Epic Games store day and date with the Steam version.

There will of course be more games added to the Epic Games store but it will never have the massive catalog that Steam boasts because Epic insists on offering a smaller list of approved games. Is there anything here that makes you want to head over to Epic’s new store? Let us know.
