GFK Chart Track with MCV released the latest figures for the full year of Software sales in the UK during 2015. Unsurprisingly the PlayStation 4 took 36.3% of Software sales with Xbox nipping them in the heels at 29.7%. This is staggering taking into account the massive disparity in console sales, which shows that even with the lead in the market hardware wise, when it comes to software their dominance is quite muted.
Xbox One exclusives took 6 spots in the top selling chart including Halo 5, Halo Master Chief Collection, Forza 6 and Horizon 2 and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Gears of War Unlimited was the lowest of them all which is quite surprising. In comparison, none of PlayStation 4’s exclusives charted except for the Nathan Drake Collection which came in as the second best selling exclusive title and The Last of Us Remastered.
It’s great to see Microsoft and the Xbox One do well even against the juggernaut that is the PlayStation. You might be behind, but you can still make the podium.
